The spires and bell towers of the Dolomites of the last western stretch of the Friuli mountain, protected within the Friuli Dolomites Natural Park, are among the nine mountainous sites recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. The peaks embrace the Tramontina, Valcellina and Tagliamento valleys, where unspoiled nature and breath-taking views of gorges, caves, alpine lakes and emerald pools are the ideal backdrop for a myriad of outdoor activities, from Nordic walking to hiking, from trekking to ski mountaineering and climbing. The valleys are dotted with many small villages trapped in time, ideal destinations for a stop to discover specialities and never forgotten products, indeed handed down from generation to generation.
